What is the word for making up new words?

Author: What is the word for making up new words or for someone making up a new word? I know that there is one, and I’ve even had someone tell me, but I just plain forgot…can you save me from this conundrum?
coin (v) is the act of making up a new word. the new word is then called either a coinage or a neologism

I don’t believe there is one. I’d call it creation of a new word. But I don’t think there is one.

Coinage, I am sure of it, but I don’t know the word for that person who coins words. Could be Coiner?
